Rajasthan UDH Minister (Urban Development Minister) Jhabar Singh Kharra has stated that the real reason for the ongoing deadlock in the Rajasthan Assembly is the internal tussle within the Congress party. In a special discussion with NDTV, he elaborated on the ongoing conflict between the ruling party and the opposition in the assembly. He mentioned that an agreement had been reached to resolve the deadlock, but things worsened due to just one MLA. The minister further stated that the government is still willing to end this deadlock.

In the budget session of the Rajasthan Assembly, proceedings have been stalled for the last six days due to the standoff between the ruling party and the opposition. This uproar began last Friday (February 21) when Minister Avinash Gehlot used the word ‘Dadi’ for former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which the opposition took issue with.

UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra stated that on Monday (February 24), three rounds of talks were held between the ruling party and the opposition, during which an agreement was reached to resolve the deadlock. According to the agreement, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie was to present his point first, followed by a statement from Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel. After that, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara was to present his point with special permission and express regret.

Apology became the biggest issue; Dotasara reminded BJP of six incidents where an apology was demanded from them as well.

Kharra alleged that Dotasara did not express regret, which led to the situation worsening despite the agreement. Minister Kharra said, “He presented his point but did not express regret, and after that, the situation worsened, leading to the adjournment of the House. However, the kind of language he used inside the House has shattered  its dignity.”
