‘Will not let 500 houses be demolished’, debate between BJP MLA and minister in the House

22 November 2024

During the discussion on the budget in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday, a debate broke out between the BJP MLA and the minister. Kalicharan Saraf, MLA from Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency of Jaipur, raised the issue of demolition of 500 houses due to Kartarpur drain in the House. On which he had a debate with UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra.

Kalicharan Saraf raised a question in the House regarding demarcation and paving of Kartarpura drain in Jaipur and laying of sewerage lines for the houses on both sides. On this, UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra said that while hearing the PIL in 2018, the High Court had directed to prepare an action plan for paving the drain. Now I will not comment on what has happened from 2018 till now.

Kharra said that once the action plan has been presented in compliance with the High Court’s orders, now we will request the High Court to amend it. If the High Court gives permission, we will make such a plan that at least fewer people face problems.

Interrupting this, MLA Saraf said that JDA has put red marks on about 500 houses and there is panic among the people there. In a democracy, it is not possible to demolish 500 houses at once. This will not be allowed to happen under any circumstances. A sewerage treatment plant should be built in this area.

He said that during BJP rule, 21 crores were sanctioned for this under Amrit Yojana, I inaugurated it. After the change of government, the Congress rule closed it saying that there is no land. People of 30 colonies are troubled by the stench. Kharra replied that we will take further action as per the action plan directed by the High Court.
